'Millions of women at risk of cervical cancer because they don’t understand HPV risk'
But a new survey has revealed half of women wrongly think they won't get HPV because they're in a long-term relationship.are caused by HPV, 48 per cent think being in a faithful relationship will protect them.
Meanwhile, around seven per cent think that if their partner is diagnosed with HPV, it means they've been unfaithful.Robert Music, chief exec of Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust, said: "It is worrying to see so many myths and so much stigma regarding HPV as this may just increase fear and uncertainty at an already anxious time.
Currently only girls are given the HPV vaccine, however from September the Government will roll out vaccinations for boys in a bid to try and wipe out cervical cancer.
