Energy regulator Ofgem has issued some new regulations for suppliers that will affect households too.

Major energy suppliers in the UK have been issued with some new rules and regulation surrounding prepayment meters which come into force today.

It comes after a Times investigation was launched which showed debt collectors forcing their way into people's homes to install these types of meter, Birmingham Live reports. If they are found to install one where it shouldn't be, they should also offer compensation and return the household to a standard meter.
