Seven million households across the UK will soon start to receive the next £300 DWP payment
Some households will be receiving a £300 boost in their accounts as the weather begins to turn colder. With Christmas only a few weeks away and the winter weather rolling in, high energy bills could become a concern for many households.
There is a possibility that tougher financial measures will be announced in the Chancellor's Autumn statement. Fears have been expressed by anti-poverty campaigners about benefits being given an increase that's below inflation, or being kept at the same level. It is understood that if no increase is announced, then a working couple on Universal Credit with two children would experience a £1,202 shortfall over the course of the next financial year. Meanwhile, a working couple on Universal Credit with three children would suffer a dramatic £1,622 drop reports Birmingham Live.At the moment inflation is stuck at 6.7 per cent, which is well above the Government's target of 2 per cent.
However, millions of households across the UK will soon have some pressure taken off, as they will get a helping hand in the next instalment of the Department for Work and Pension's cost of living package. Seven million households across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland will start to receive this next DWP cost of living payment in 10 days' time. This sum of £300 will go to those receiving low-income benefits such as Universal Credit.
