Millions of middle-aged Britons are set to spend their retirement in poverty and ill-health, a landmark report on the state of ageing in Britain warned yesterday. Poorer over-50s face far greater challenges than their wealthier peers and are likely to die younger, become sicker earlier and be unemployed.
Research reveals that 23% of people aged 50 to 64 manage three or more chronic health conditions.
