The mum of tragic 10-year-old Milly Main has hit out at the SNP and Greens for voting down plans to give bereaved families extra rights

.Speaking of the snub, she said: “This is disappointing and I hope all MSPs will reconsider this in the final vote. Families are looking to our parliament to take the necessary steps to ensure that nobody has to go through what we went through ever again.”

An independent probe eventually concluded that Milly died after “probably” catching a water-linked infection at the QUEH. Labour responded with plans for a special ‘Milly’s Law’ in her memory and amendments to the Government’s Patient Safety Commissioner Bill. Labour health spokesperson Jackie Baillie said: “This is a shocking betrayal of the families affected by the QEUH scandal and will only entrench the culture of secrecy and cover-up encouraged by the SNP. Only last week, Humza Yousaf promised to work with Labour on the Patient Safety Commissioner Bill - clearly this was only the latest in a line of hollow promises made for TV cameras by this morally bankrupt government.

SNP finances probe “Writing very specific steps for the commissioner on the face of the bill would risk getting in the way of the commissioner actually doing this kind of work, and working to prevent major patient safety issues developing in the first place.
