DAVAO CITY – The Mindanao Development Authority will step up its advocacy for public-private partnerships starting next year to support and increase the capabilities of local government units in Mindanao.
MinDA Chairman Secretary Leo Tereso A. Magno, speaking at the Wednesday Media Forum in a mall here, said the administration recognizes the transformative power of the private sector. He added that they have established consensus with the PPP Center to strengthen the initiative.Magno said MinDA is working to create tailored master plans for every region to facilitate PPP linkages as part of the initiative that aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
“We aim to empower LGUs by encouraging them to adopt PPPs. While the national government often provides initial funding, LGUs must see private sector partnerships as a way to overcome funding challenges and explore new opportunities,” Magno said. Magno said they are creating a dedicated MinDA office to concentrate exclusively on PPPs. He emphasized the significance of equipping LGUs with the legal authority and comprehension to engage with PPPs effectively.
