At long last, a Minecraft animated series is in the works at Netflix, and it's being made by the studio behind Sonic Prime.
Mojang Studios and Netflix announced on Thursday that they will be teaming up for a Minecraft animated series. The Minecraft series is being developed by WildBrain, which previously made Sonic Prime and Ninjago: Dragons Rising for Netflix. Honestly, I'm surprised there hasn't already been a Minecraft series. We've seen Minecraft Lego sets, tabletop games, books, and a whole host of spinoff video games.
BoJack Horseman, Blue Eye Samurai, Big Mouth, Castlevania, Arcane -- many of my favorite animated shows of the past decade have been Netflix Originals. That alone has me excited for the Minecraft show. Personally, I am most interested to see if this series has any connection to the Minecraft movie. The star-studded cast of the Minecraft movie includes Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Coolidge, Kate McKinnon, and Jemaine Clement.
