Conservative ministers celebrated the centenary of the Government Wine Cellar with a special event featuring a rare 1922 cognac.

Conservative ministers enjoyed a 102-year-old bottle of cognac at a party held in December 2023 to mark the centenary of the Government Wine Cellar. The valuable vintage, a 1922 Hine Cognac, was opened for the event hosted by long-serving Tory MP Andrew Mitchell. Attendees also savored a port from 1931 and a 1983 Bordeaux.

The Government Wine Cellar, located beneath Lancaster House in London's West End, contains a total of 2,713 bottles, including 1,771 British wines, 33 bottles of spirits and brandy, with a total value of £3.8 million. Details of the party were revealed in a government response to questions from Foreign Affairs Committee chair Emily Thornberry
