The authorities are now safeguarding the 15-year-old.
The teenager was reported missing from Lancashire - nearly 100 miles away. A Honda was stopped near the J11 of the M6 before officers discovered the child inside.
They added that police officers took the child back to their home address. In a statement on X, cops said: "M6 J11 Honda stopped following concerns for a missing 15-year-old from @LancsPolice area. Alongside the news, police shared a picture of the traffic stop on the M6. It shows a Honda Civic with a marked police car in front of it with a BMW - possibly an unmarked police car - parked on the left-hand side.
