New South Wales Opposition Leader Mark Speakman claims the state's Police Minister has failed in her duty to keep the public informed following the death of a 95-year-old woman who was allegedly tasered by an officer.
New South Wales Police Minister Yasmin Catley is"missing in action" following the death of a 95-year-old woman tasered by an officer, according to Opposition Leader Mark Speakman.
"There's no evidence the Police Minister had any curiosity about the case, that she was trying to find out what had happened, why there was this delay. The officer in question is now facing an internal investigation into the incident, with the potential of criminal charges. It took two days for police to update the release and disclose a senior constable had"discharged a taser."The withholding of key details about the death of Ms Noland prompted questions and accusations of a"cover-up" in parliament on Wednesday, with the opposition pressing Minister Catley over who knew what and when.
That was not enough to satisfy the opposition, who resumed questioning of Ms Catley on Thursday about the time taken to update the release.
