Police are appealing for information to locate Shane Donnelly/Barr following a two-car collision on the A7. The missing man may have been injured in the crash.
Police in Scotland are urgently searching for a missing man, Shane Donnelly/Barr, following a two-car collision on the A7 north of Selkirk on Tuesday evening. Emergency services responded to reports of the crash near the Lindean junction around 7:10 pm. While the female driver of the second car was transported to Borders General Hospital for treatment, Shane was not present at the scene when officers arrived.
Police believe he may have been injured in the collision and are concerned for his welfare. A dedicated team of officers is working to locate him. Extensive inquiries are ongoing, including air searches conducted yesterday. Police are appealing to residents in the area to search sheds and outbuildings in case Shane has sought shelter. They are also urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage from the A7 between Selkirk and Galashiels shortly before the incident to come forward. Inspector David Aitchison emphasized the growing concern for Shane's safety, stating: 'It has now been some time since this crash and concern is growing for Shane’s welfare. 'We believe he may have been injured in the collision and it is imperative that we trace him as soon as possible.' He added, 'Shane has links across the Scottish Borders and I am keen to hear from anyone who may have information about Shane's whereabouts. 'Please get in touch, as we need to ensure his safety. I am also appealing directly to Shane, if you are reading this, please let us know you are safe and well.' Shane, from Galashiels, is described as 6ft tall with brown hair and facial hair, and blue eyes. His clothing is unknown. Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 3784 of 14 January, 2025
