Missions’ Adam Mazur’s strong start to the season helps them homestand

The San Antonio Missions split a series against NW Arkansas Naturals in the team’s first homestand of the 2024 season.

After joining the San Antonio Missions late last season, pitcher Adam Mazur has gained momentum. In his first 11-innings pitched this season, he has a scorching 0.82 ERA with 12 strikeouts and only five hits given up. Mazur, the Padres ’ seventh-ranked prospect, has a team-best 0.55 WHIP and a .143 opposing batting average. The Missions are 1-1 in Mazur’s starts after losing in extra innings to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals last week.

“He had a very solid outing for us,” Montz said. “We lost that ball game late in the ball game. Robby gave us every chance to win. Every time one of those guys steps on the mound, they give us such an advantage to win the ball game. And again, they have a competitive bulldog edge.” But even though the Missions pitchers had a strong week, the hitters struggled. The Missions were the only team in the Texas League not to hit a home run.
