Major League Baseball is looking into the comment that Red Sox manager Alex Cora made on Sunday, suggesting that Boston tried to hit Yankees star Aaron Judge with a pitch intentionally on Saturday.

The Red Sox are under MLB investigation for Alex Cora's comments, insinuating that they threw at Aaron Judge on purpose during Saturday's game in an effort to retaliate against the Yankees.Gerrit Cole plunking Rafael Devers earlier in the game“It was closed around the sixth inning,” Cora said Sunday morning, asked if there would be any carryover after Saturday’s drama. “We had our chance. Didn’t happen. We have to move on. That’s it.

In the sixth, Red Sox starter Brayan Bello threw a first-pitch sinker behind Judge’s legs. Catcher Danny Jansen couldn’t make the catch as the 97-mph pitch trickled toward the backstop behind home plate. Judge flew out later in the at-bat and Cora promptly called to the bullpen.“That’s not allowed,” Boone said. “That’s for somebody else to deal with. We’re finished playing with them for now. We’re on to Seattle. Obviously you can’t do that.

Judge also had a chance to react to Cora’s comments and the entire altercation. He didn’t share much about his private discussion with Boston’s skipper, but did explain that this is a way that baseball has been policed for a century. “Playing this game for a while, things like that happen,” Judge said. “I know they were upset that three of there guys got hit that day. They’re just protecting their players. Something’s gotta happen. That’s the way this game gets policed and it’s been policed for 100 years. The biggest thing is just don’t miss when you do it.”Thank you for relying on us to provide the journalism you can trust. Please consider supporting us with a subscription.
