More than thirty dogs have moved into the animal shelter overnight.
MCSO still searching for person they say is responsible for setting up dog fights in AxisSharee Broussard with Mobile County says the animals won’t be euthanized but can’t be adopted.
“No, they’re on legal hold. The dogs that were seized by the sheriff’s office are on legal hold,” Broussard said. “They’re being cared for by Mobile County Animal Shelter. None have been euthanized however they need to be in single runs they can’t be with any other dogs. And so that means our space is critical right now.”With the shelter sitting at full capacity with 83 dogs, Broussard says there’s still a lot of uncertainty about the dogs tied to the criminal case.
“Initial behavioral assessments haven’t even been finalized. It’s such a new situation, that’s a long-term answer and I don’t think we can answer that today,” Broussard said. “And plus we don’t know how long the legal case will last.
