A step in the right direction, or backwards progress? Most of Lincolnshire's ticket offices are set to close 🎫
Plans to"modernise" the railway by closing many of Lincolnshire's ticket offices have been backed by train operators, who say that the majority of tickets are now booked online.
An EMR spokesperson said: “In line with other train operators, we are supporting the modernisation of the industry so we can adapt to our customers’ changing travel patterns. “We would like to encourage as many people as possible to take part in the consultation and share their views. Full contact details can be found on the following dedicated webpageThis has been echoed by London North Eastern Railway, which manages the three other Greater Lincolnshire area ticket offices that are due to close - Grantham, Retford and Newark North Gate.
Proposed changes would see the Lincoln ticket offices opening hours change from 5am-7.30pm to 6am-8.30pm Monday to Saturday, and then from 10.30am-9.30pm to 7am-8.30pm on Sundays. RMT General Secretary Mick Lynch said: “This is catastrophic for elderly, disabled and vulnerable passengers trying to access the rail network.
