BREAKING: The Pentagon has released declassified footage of the moment a Russian jet crashed into a US drone on Tuesday.
In the video, a Russian military jet can be seen dumping fuel near the drone as it hovers overhead.The de-classified video, which is about 40 seconds long, has been edited by the U.S. military for length but shows events in a sequential order, the Pentagon said.
Only a small exerpt of the encounter has been released by the US, which does not show events before or afterwards. The move was the first time an American aircraft had been brought down by a Russian warplane since the height of the Cold War, and sparked fears of an escalation between the two powers.has denied U.S. accusations that its jets acted recklessly in the incident on Tuesday over the Black Sea.
When asked this week if the incident could inflame tensions with Washington, Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov insisted that Russian jets didn’t use their weapons or impact the U.S. drone.
