Comparing Monkey Man’s Ending To The Legend Of Hanuman Dev Patel’s movie is inspired by the Hindu deity Monkey Man is heavily influenced by the legend of Hanuman, a god who is half-human, half-monkey and who helps Prince Rama save his wife Sita. At the end of the tale, Hanuman is killed after attempting to take the sun from the sky, not knowing what it actually was, with the god Indra striking him down and breaking Hanuman’s jaw in the process.
