HMP Wakefield, nicknamed 'Monster Mansion,' will serve a limited Christmas dinner to its high-security inmates, with no extra funding allocated for holiday meals.
While most people wouldn't opt for a Christmas dinner from a prison menu, the infamous inmates of Cat A 'Monster Mansion' won't have any other option this year. This high-security prison has been home to some of the UK's most infamous criminals, including Harold Shipman and former Lost Prophet singer Ian Watkins. HMP Wakefield prisoners will be given four choices for their festive meal, but with a daily budget per prisoner capped at £2.15p last year, the prospects are bleak.
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) doesn't allocate extra funds for holiday meals, meaning there's no chance of stocking up on festive food for the prison's dangerous criminals. YorkshireLive's Freedom of Information request to the MoJ revealed that the Christmas Day menu at 'Monster Mansion' is adorned with clipart of two slightly sinister-looking Santas.
