The real Lyle and Erik were convicted of the murders of their parents in 1996 and are currently serving life sentences without the possibility of parole. The prosecution argued they were seeking to inherit their family fortune, but the brothers claimed they committed these acts after a lifetime of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse inflicted by their parents.
