You should expect to see trucks misting between midnight and 5 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. In Monterey Park, vector control officials will spray West Floral Drive and the Pomona Freeway, east of Vancouver Avenue and west of Collegian Avenue. Basset residents between Puente and Vineland avenues, southwest of Amar Road and northeast of Valley Boulevard can also expect to see spraying at that time.
San Gabriel Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District technicians will be spraying something called Aquaduet. The formula contains Sumithrin and Prallethrin, which mimic properties of chrysanthemum flowers, and according to Aquaduet’s manufacturer, is considered harmful if inhaled. However, the district said the spray will not harm the finishes on cars or homes.
You can do your part to reduce the mosquito population by getting rid of standing water. That means changing out pet dishes and bird baths, and being sure to maintain pools and spas.
