Montgomery City Council President 'CC' Calhoun is related to the victim and his family.

“Stop the violence,” said City Council President “CC” Calhoun. “We got to come together as one in Montgomery and stop all this violence and killing each other. Let’s be together. We can talk things out, so we have to come up with ways to solve our differences without shooting.”

It happened at the Woodley Oaks Apartments and claimed the life of 36-year-old Quinton Harris, who is a relative of Calhoun’s. “It is a sad situation. Actually, that’s a family of mine,” Calhoun said. “My heart goes out to the Harris family. He’s a cousin of mine. His mom is my second cousin. So we’re praying. We’re just trying to get to the bottom of what happened.”“They didn’t have a business license. The owners are not taking responsibility. And I just feel as a representative that if a little more on those owners would been done, this may have been prevented,” Mitchell said.

There were three others injured in this weekend’s shooting. Montgomery police are still investigating. WSFA 12 News reached out to the Woodley Oaks Apartments after the meeting, but it was after their business hours. Any updates we get will be passed along.Copyright 2024 WSFA. All rights reserved.
