A Montgomery judge is in the hospital after being seriously injured in a domestic shooting Saturday. His own son is facing charges.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -

Montgomery Circuit Judge Johnny Hardwick was seriously injured in a shooting Saturday, reportedly by his son, Khalfani Hardwick, Investigators say after hurting his father, Khalfani left the scene. They believe he abandoned the truck he was driving on Trotman Road near the Rolling Hills Fire Department off U.S. Highway 231.

Judge Hardwick is an Alumnus of Alabama State University. He served in federal, state, and Montgomery city positions before being appointed to the circuit court in 2001. He was named the president of the Alabama Association of Circuit Court Judges last August.“I think that’s credit to the men and women of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office,” said Montgomery County Assistant Chief Wesley Richerson.
