Montgomery, Alabama
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says a Montgomery man has been arrested and charged in a high speed chase that occurred Wednesday during rush hour.
According to court documents obtained by Action 8 News, 20-year-old Carlos Rene Maldonado-Chavez has been charged with attempting to elude, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. The court documents say around 5:00 p.m., Maldonado-Chavez attempted to elude State Troopers on I-85N at Forest Avenue after Troopers activated all emergency equipment indicating to the driver to stop.
Officials say Maldonado-Chavez travelled on I-85 to Taylor Road at speeds in excess of 90 mph. Maldonado-Chavez was eventually arrested on Eastern Blvd. at Wares Ferry Road after colliding with two civilian vehicles. No word on the conditions of those occupants at this time. After his arrest, officials say they found just over 12 grams of amphetamine with the intent to be distributed. Maldonado-Chavez also had 308 grams of marijuana in his possession.Categories
