Superintendent of Montgomery Public Schools Dr. Melvin J. Brown has resigned.

WSFA 12 News confirmed the news after receiving a copy of Dr. Brown’s resignation letter. It reads:“It is with a mix of gratitude and anticipation that I submit my resignation as Superintendent of Montgomery Public Schools , effective November 1, 2024. Serving this community over the past two plus years has been an honor, and I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together.

“2. Innovative Programs and Curriculum: We have successfully implemented several innovative programs, such as the STEM Excellence Initiative and Problem-Based Learning strategies, which have not only enhanced our science, technology, engineering, and mathematics curriculum but also increased student engagement and interest in these critical fields.

“5. Infrastructure and Technology Upgrades: Thanks to the successful passage of the bond measure and a bond renewal, we have made significant upgrades to our school facilities and technology infrastructure. These improvements have created safer, more modern, and conducive learning environments for our students and staff with systems that allow for quick responses from first responders to emergency situations.

“It is with a mix of gratitude and anticipation that I have submitted my resignation as Superintendent of Montgomery Public Schools, effective November 1, 2024. Serving this community over the past two plus years has been an honor, and I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together. I would like to express my utmost thanks for the opportunity to work with the professionals of the Montgomery Public Schools over the past two years.
