Montgomery Whitewater hosts U.S. Open Championships

40 athletes from across the United States competed in the U.S. Open Whitewater Championship over the weekend.

“It’s kind of a practice race for us leading up to the Olympic Trials which is April 13 and 14, and whitewater slalom is sort of the Olympic discipline of whitewater kayaking,” said Hepp. “Athletes, parents, coaches, they’re excited to come back now that we have a course this far south where it’s warm almost 12 months of the year, they are all super excited and they’ve been very pleasantly surprised by Montgomery in general,” said Hepp.
