Mordaunt and Badenoch favourites to become the next PM, Tory members’ poll reveals

A survey of more than 800 party members saw the two named the most popular, with Ms Mordaunt narrowly edging ahead

Jeremy Hunt, Nadhim Zahawi, Sajid Javid, Grant Shapps and Priti Patel – who has not yet declared – were next in line of preference, all winning less than 5 per cent of the vote.

Since her announcement her leadership bid on Sunday, she has gathered the second-highest number of endorsements from MPs, after Mr Sunak.
