Twenty-one people have been convicted of shocking child sex abuse offences in a case described as the biggest in the history of West Midlands Police.

The defendants were arrested for offences relating to seven children aged under 12 in Walsall and Wolverhampton spanning nearly a decade.

The sex ring came to light after a hospital visit by one of the victims raised concerns which led to a subsequent inquiry. Detective Chief Supt Inspector Paul Drover, of West Midlands Police, said:"It's a large scale child sexual assault investigation spanning a number of years since 2017. For me and my colleagues this is one of the most shocking and abhorrent cases of child sexual abuse that I've seen that I have seen in my career.
