The driver received minor injuries in the crash which left the HGV on its side and forced the road to be closed overnight.

More than 200 sheep have been killed after a lorry carrying them crashed in the south of Scotland.

The animals died after the incident on the A76 between Sanquhar and Thornhill in the Dumfries and Galloway region on Monday night. The driver received minor injuries in the crash, which happened at around 10.50pm near to Enterkinfoot, south of Mennock. Nithsdale Police tweeted an image of the lorry, owned by Longtown-based haulier Wm Armstrong, on its side along with an appeal for the public's help with the investigation.
