Almost 200 children were safeguarded
A half century of people in Northamptonshire were convicted of online child abuse crimes in 2022, according to Northamptonshire Police. from predators including a 37-year-old man who paid a girl under 13 for sex.
It said 158 arrests had been made between January and December last year, resulting in 56 convictions, and that 193 children were safeguarded. Northants Police say they are "passionate about the protection and safeguarding of our children in this county."The convictions listed by the OCAIU include Tony Jackman, who was sentenced to four years and five months in prison after admitting several indecent images of children found on his devices were for his own sexual enjoyment.
Meanwhile a 37-year-old man was found to have made indecent images of children and paid for the sexual services of a girl under 13. He was sentenced to eight years in prison.
