TUC General Secretary Paul Nowak, RMT General Secretary Mick Lynch and PCS Union General Secretary Fran Heathcote warn against reduction in winter fuel allowance cut.
More than half of pensioners will heat their homes less due to the winter fuel payment cut, a poll has revealed.
Three-quarters of respondents said they would be impacted by the planned changes to the winter fuel allowance, while just a fifth think they will avoid any negative effects. Calling on Sir Keir Starmer to rethink the cut, Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey said the poll showed that the Government is forcing pensioners to make the ‘heartbreaking choice between heating and eating this winter’
‘We cannot stand by and allow millions of pensioners to endure another winter in a cost of living crisis. Liberal Democrats will be voting against the Government’s cut.’
