His heartbroken family has called for tougher controls on knife sales after it emerged his teenage killers had bought vicious blades over the internet. Both Veadhesa and Shergill used machete-style weapons, which they bought from the internet without the need for checks. The Sentencing Council will also be asked to consider amending guidelines for the possession of bladed articles and offensive weapons so that these are treated more seriously than possession of non-prohibited weapons.
