A shopper who enjoyed a breakfast at Morrisons declared it 'not a patch on Wetherspoons' after paying twice as much at the supermarket. Matthew, a self-proclaimed bargain hunter, shared a photo of his small breakfast on Facebook, highlighting the disparity in price and perceived value compared to his recent Wetherspoons experience. His post sparked a wave of criticism, with commenters deeming the bacon 'awful' and the overall breakfast 'disgusting'.
A shopper who stopped off for a Morrisons breakfast has declared it 'not a patch on Wetherspoons ' after he paid twice as much at the supermarket. Matthew, who likes to find budget places to eat out, shared a photo of the cooked breakfast he received at the retailer's Bredbury branch, in Stockport. While he said he was 'not amazing', but equally 'not poor', he said overall, it's 'definitely not a patch on the Wetherspoons Breakfast' which he enjoyed last month for half the price.
Sharing a photo of the breakfast on his Facebook page The Wigan Runner, he showed how the small breakfast consisted of a sausage, bacon, beans, egg, a hash brown and a slice of toast. 'With the normal size being £8 I couldn't justify paying that much just for breakfast, especially compared to the price at Wetherspoons at the moment,' he said. 'So went with small at £5.50. Also unlimited coffee for £2.50 (I wasn't sure if that was the price for 1 at first until I asked) Morrisons definitely don't make it obvious that they are unlimited. 'Look closely.. the bread kind of covers up how little you actually get. If you take that off the breakfast it really is SMALL. But then I guess that's what I ordered... but for £5.50.' His traditional breakfast at The Wilfred Wood Wetherspoons, in Hazel Grove, Stockport came in at little more than £4 and consisted of a fried egg, bacon, a Lincolnshire sausage, baked beans, two hash browns and a slice of toast, as well as unlimited brews. But followers of his page were even less impressed than Matthew with the Morrisons breakfast. His photo received some rather scathing comments, with one saying: 'A good vet could get that bacon back to life,' and 'That looks awful, that bacon does not look good.' Another said: 'I couldn’t have consumed that. Sausage cremated, bacon soggy and undercooked and hash brown does not belong on a breakfast, it belongs in the bin! All in all disgusting.'
