Morrisons has made a major change to its working patterns in a bid to increase productivity and beat its rivals following a fall in market share.

According to The Telegraph, the supermarket giant will be reducing night shifts and instead move towards using a mix of twilight and early shifts. It is hoped the change will lead to increased productivity and fewer mistakes. Morrisons executives insist the move is not aimed at cutting costs, but rather that the new shift times would allow for better efficiency.
A Morrisons spokesman said the scaling back of traditional night shifts is 'a progressive step, delivering a better store replenishment, a better customer experience and better continuity in the store'.
