Only 22% of Americans said Israel’s war against Hamas will make its people more secure, while 27% say it will do the opposite. Over one-third of respondents were unsure of how the war will affect the Jewish state’s citizens. Broken down by category, just under half of all Muslim respondents said Hamas has "valid" reasons to fight, whereas 89% of Jews said the same of Israel.When asked about which group they support, 31% of all U.S. adults said their sympathies are with Israel. About half of this amount said the same of Palestine, while 57% were somewhere in the middle. More adults reported having a favorable opinion of the Israeli people than the Israeli government .
