Some previously unfancied names are becoming more and more popular
Picking a name for your newborn is no easy task and many parents strive to name their children something unique. In fact, uncommon names are rising across the globe, with parents hoping the name they give their children will help them stand out.
To discover the most uncommon, the experts at Protectivity we looked at which names rank 100th and below. Examining figures from the Office of National Statistics , the experts found the least used monikers for boys and girls across the UK. Findings show that Myles and Sara are the most uncommon baby names both ranking at 100 in 2021, with Nathan and Beatrice following in 99th place. Other additions to the list for males include Tobias, Ollie, Charles and Kai. Meanwhile, Anna, Lilly, Elodie and Eden are some of the least picked names for girls.
For names that are growing in popularity, Otis and Maeve have moved up the list significantly, with the former climbing 112 positions, while the latter has shot up a staggering 483 spots. Back in September, officials released the 100 most popular baby names for 2022, with one "extinct" title making the list.
