The thieves reportedly handcuffed Mrs Crouch’s husband, 33-year-old Greek helicopter pilot Charalambos Anagnostopoulos, to a chair after he tried to fight them off. The thieves then strangled her to death, reportedly with her own blouse or a pillowcase to stop her screaming for help, before making off with expensive jewellery and almost £13,000 in cash.Mrs Crouch’s husband said he found her dead next to their crying baby On their way out they killed the family’s dog by strangling it with its lead and left it hanging on the fence of the house in the suburb of Glyka Nera, police added.
Husband Charalambos Anagnostopoulos, 33, was tied to a chair downstairs while thieves tortured his wife Kleanthis Papagiannopoulos, another police spokesperson, said ‘such brutality is rare for our country’.Police said it was likely the thieves had kept the family under surveillance for some time before breaking into the three-storey property.
