'Mother's Day with cancer is bittersweet - it's taught me to treasure the small things' bowelbabe
I've lived to see another one, but at the same time I'm terrified this might be my last.
But, this year, I'm here and given I never thought I would make it this far, I am so grateful. I know how lucky I am.I'm grateful for the precious moments I have lived to see since last Mother's Day.I'm talking about the normal things in life. The simple stuff. The stuff I used to take for granted. While I'm mad on the outside, when she ruins my expensive lipsticks, I treasure the fact I get to watch her. I'd have done exactly the same at her age.The Sun's columnist Deborah James celebrates finishing round 16 of chemo with her kidsI never thought I would see him finish primary school, let alone debate where he wanted to go for high school. My son loves running, so we do a park run most weeks. It's time we get together, and it's the stuff I treasure.
I shouldn't really still be alive now though, and it's what keeps me more determined than ever to live my life with my babies, right now.But I am acutely aware of how fast that can change, I don't live in a total dreamworld.I've seen it many times, I've seen friends go through it.
