Chrissie Everett-Hickson, a 21-year-old mother, was murdered by her partner Kain Tailby on their first anniversary. Tailby was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of murder. In a remarkable act of forgiveness, Chrissie's mother told her daughter's killer she forgives him.
A 21-year-old Derbyshire mother’s life was taken from her during what a judge described as “an explosion of anger and violence”. Chrissie Everett-Hickson, who was murdered at the hands of her partner Kain Tailby on their first anniversary, was described by her family as “a harmless young lady who had barely begun to live”.
“Whatever the reason, there was no justification for the level of violence you used. The effect of your actions to those who knew and loved Chrissie has been, and will remain, immeasurable. A neighbour overheard noise of the attack and the defendant then rang the police and admitted he’d assaulted his then-partner saying “it got pushy shovey". He later told police after his arrest “I regret everything what went off, I regret all of it, I feel nothing but sorrow, upset”.
“Now her son will grow up knowing his mother's life was taken. Her light will never be extinguished. I am so proud of her, I always will be."
