A mother sobbed ‘I’m not a bad mom’ as she was charged with leaving her baby in a car on a hot day.
Stacey Holly, 37 could be heard remonstrating with a police officer as he charged her with child abuse and child endangerment. She left the five month-old girl in her white Cadillac Escalade while visiting a Target store in Goodyear, Arizona, in June with her sister and older daughter.AdvertisementShe told the officer:
Stacey Holly was seen sobbing ‘I’m not a bad mom’ as she was confronted about leaving her baby daughter in a hot car. Despite her protestations, she was still charged with child abuse She continued: ‘I don’t know, I honestly don’t know how it happened.‘I always have my baby. I’m not a neglectful mom, I’m not a bad mom.’
Holly claimed to have left the youngster in the car for 30 minutes in 99F outside temperatures, but security camera footage showed the baby had been in the car for almost 50 minutes.In a separate chat, Holly’s sister could be heard telling the officer ‘We went into target and we didn’t look in the back seat.And the cop himself could be heard explaining his reason to charge Holly, telling a colleague: ‘I hate to be the [bleeped-out expletive] but I’m charging her.
