Stuart Kettlewell has stepped down as manager of Scottish Premiership club Motherwell, citing the personal abuse he has received during a recent slump in form. The club's board of directors, made up of fans, have reluctantly accepted his resignation. Kettlewell led Motherwell to safety from relegation in his first three months in charge and achieved a 10-game unbeaten run last season, narrowly missing out on a top-six finish. However, the team has lost three consecutive games and only won one in their last nine matches.
Stuart Kettlewell has resigned as Motherwell manager, with the Scottish Premiership club saying the 40-year-old cited the personal abuse he had received during a recent downturn in results.
"He has been a critical factor in the development of Motherwell academy graduates, as well as developing young loan players during his tenure. The chief executive had last week pointed out that Kettlewell's side were outperforming rivals with bigger budgets and were nine points better off at the same stage last season.
