Motherwell rock band The LaFontaines, who have headlined festivals such as T in the Park and TRNSMT, have announced they will soon be hanging up their instruments.

Motherwell band The LaFontaines have announced they are "calling it a day" after 17 years together, leaving fans devastated.

The band started in 2008 with Kerr Okan, Jamie Keenan and Darren McCaughey and produced four studio albums."After 17 incredible years as a band, four albums deep, and countless unforgettable shows, we’ve made the very difficult decision to call it a day. It’s been less than easy—this band has been everything to us.

"The most important people to thank are you. The folk who showed up to the shows, who listened to the albums, bought the merch, and joined us along the way."It wouldn’t be like us to leave before last orders, so let’s have one last shindig. Shocked fans took to the comments following the news. One person wrote: "Can't believe I'm reading this. Absolute pleasure to have gotten to know you guys over the years. Lots of brilliant gigs and hopefully many more for you all in different guises in future.""I've gone to gigs you've supported just to catch the performance and tunes - 100% of the time you've performed better than the main acts for energy, engagement and talent.
