Two pools could close after the council's funding was cut by 92%
Two top members of West Lancashire Borough Council could lose their positions in a row over controversial plans to close the Nye Bevan and Park Pools . Council leader Yvonne Gagen and the Lead Member for Leisure Carl Coughlan are both facing the axe after a motion of no confidence was put forward. Proposals to close the two pools, in Ormskirk and Skelmersdale , were put forward in October as part of a wider review to secure the council's financial future after its funding was cut by 92%.
The council faces yet more disruption on Wednesday, December 11, when councillors will discuss a motion of no confidence in council leader Yvonne Gagen and Lead Member for Leisure Carl Coughlan.
