A pilot has died following a collision between two private jets at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona on Monday afternoon. The crash involved a Learjet owned by Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil and a Gulfstream 200 business jet. Neil was not on board the Learjet at the time of the incident. His girlfriend, Rain Andreani, and her friend sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a hospital alongside the Learjet's co-pilot, who also suffered injuries.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the cause of the accident. Initial reports indicate that one of the Learjet's two landing gear systems malfunctioned during its approach from Austin, Texas. This led the aircraft to veer off the runway upon landing and collide with the Gulfstream 200. Rain Andreani sustained five broken ribs in the crash, while the dogs she was traveling with survived, according to TMZ. Motley Crue released a statement expressing condolences to the families of those involved and promising to announce a way to support the family of the deceased pilot soon. Vince Neil's lawyer stated that the singer is grateful for the prompt medical assistance provided by first responders.
