Motorists experienced some rather unusual driving conditions in the Sydney airport tunnel on Tuesday, after a sprinkler system burst out water onto the busy roadway.

Footage has captured the moment a sprinkler system burst inside a major Sydney tunnel, forcing motorists to drive around the gushing stream of water, after a tow truck accidentally hit a deluge system on the roof.

It is believed a tow truck with a forklift on the back accidentally hit the deluge system on the roof which consequently set off the sprinkler, according to Transport for New South Wales.
