Park visitors will need a reservation between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., according to the National Park Service.

Many visitors of Mount Rainier National Park will need reservations to enter through the Nisqually , Stevens Canyon and Sunrise/White River entrances during peak summer hours.

The NPS said times entry reservations for the first block of dates – May 24 – June 30 – for the Paradise Corridor will open at 8 a.m. PT on February 21. Reservations for the Sunrise Corridor will open on April 1 with the second block of dates, July 1 – July 31.If you’re planning a last-minute trip to Mount Rainier National Park, thea block of reservations will be released at 7 p.m. each day during the summer for use the following day.

This isn't intended to reduce the number of people visiting the park, but just to spread them out a little bit more to encourage people to visit earlier in the morning and later in the afternoon, and not all at once in the middle of the day," Bacher said. "I think people are worried that they're not going to be able to get into the park. They're worried they're going to be shut out of the park.

Bacher said the timed-entry reservations will not affect climbers with wilderness permits visiting Rainier during those summer peak hours.
