While Manchester United celebrated a dramatic victory over Manchester City, manager Ruben Amorim faces challenges with unhappy players. Marcus Rashford expressed his desire to leave the club, seeking a new challenge, while Alejandro Garnacho and Mason Mount voiced disappointment over their exclusion from the City match. Mount, particularly, is grappling with a series of injuries that have limited his playing time.

Ruben Amorim has plenty on his plate at the moment with three key Manchester United players unhappy right now.

Since his high-profile £55m transfer from Chelsea in 2023, Mount has been plagued by injuries, limiting him to just nine starts in the Premier League in a year-and-a-half. The midfielder was visibly emotional as he was forced off the pitch just 14 minutes into Sunday's derby at the Etihad Stadium due to an apparent muscle injury, leaving him devastated in the dressing room.

Mount has been sidelined for 30 matches due to injuries since the beginning of last season and has only managed to play a full 90 minutes once in a United shirt. On Wednesday, Amorim revealed that Mount consulted a specialist in hopes of resolving his persistent injury issues, which are jeopardising his career at Old Trafford.

"And then you have to understand the human also. He wants this really badly. That is the most important thing. He has proven to all of you that he is a talented player. He was European champion, so we believe a lot in him. He has to stay fit. And like all the guys in the team, they are quality players, they have to improve and believe in themselves."

Responding to Rashford's comments about wanting a 'new challenge', Amorim said he understood the player's frustrations but wished the forward had approached him before making his feelings public. "If this was me, probably I would speak with the manager," he said. "My priority is not to shift the focus from the match, from the team, from what we achieved in the last game and place it on Marcus. What I'm emphasising is that the team takes precedence over the individual. We will evaluate at the appropriate time, let's concentrate on the match. That's all."
