This is costing the country a fortune 😠
A staggering 74 tonnes of rubbish - including mattresses, signs and traffic cones - have been collected from a dumping hotspot.
Dacorum Borough Council’s crew of 20 people gathered five tonnes of rubbish over seven days on the A41 from the M25 junction at Kings Langley to the roundabout at Tring, on both sides of the carriageway. Two HGV sweepers collected a further 69 tonnes of rubbish and debris from the road, as part of the Great British Spring Clean. The council said: “Due to people continuing to drop litter from their cars, it is necessary to carry out these large-scale clean-ups.”In a picture, shared by the council, the rubbish had been stacked up in a mountain shape after it had been collected.
The pile mainly included full black bin bags, as well as items such as traffic cones and even a wheel cap. Approximately £1 billion of tax payers’ money is spent in the UK every year cleaning up after people who throw rubbish out of their vehicles, according to the council.
