Sequel to 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife relocates the action to the original Big Apple, baby

In the hearts of film fans, the goofy protectors from poltergeists have become New York’s fourth emergency service. The original 1984struggles even more because its ensemble is so vast.
That includes British comic James Acaster as the team’s new tech, Pinfield. He seems strangely akin to the animated version of the late Ivan Reitman’s character in the 1986 cartoon spinoff,doesn’t want to gently introduce newcomers to the decades of continuity and cultural resonance. Instead, the script by director Gil Kenan and Jason Reitman relishes every possible reference, from mini Stay-Puft Marshmallow men to mood slime to Ray Parker Jr.
