The Labour politician says she was 'humiliated and horrified' after being contacted by social services - while police declined to caution the troll who reported her
has called for tougher penalties on trolls who launch malicious police reports, after an online troll reported her for social services, citing her ‘man-hating’ views.
Leicester Police acknowledged that there was no evidence that Ms Creasy’s children were at risk, but that the man was entitled to make a referral to social services because he did not approve of the MP’s political stance. The police told the man, who used the alias Lance Jones, that he should stop contacting Ms Creasy- but said that Ms Creasy should also expect to be challenged on her politics. Mr Jones was given an informal warning but did not receive a police caution, on the grounds that there were threats of violence involved.
Ms Creasy said that she wants to see harsher penalties against those who use third parties to launch malicious reports and carry out harassment.
