Jimboy Estrada led Binan with 19 points, four rebounds and three assists; followed by Jaymar Gimpayan with 14 points, 13 rebounds, two steals and two assists. Imus dropped to the cellar at 0-5 despite four players contributing double figures. John Rey Sumido posted 18 points, Luis Tapenio 11, Russelle Ariban 10, and Filipino-American Richard Popovic 10.Trailing, 45-47, the Batangas Rum Masters unloaded 12 points, capped by Levi Hernandez's back-to-back hits, against a layup by John Apacible, to wrest control, 57-49, en route to a 4-1 record, the same as the Rizal Golden Coolers.
The Davao Occidental Tigers clustered 16 points early in the fourth quarter to pull away, 74-56, and rise to 3-1. The MPBL goes to the Bren Z. Guiao Sports Complex in San Fernando, Pampanga, on Thursday, May 2. The games pit Bicol against Nueva Ecija at 4 p.m., South Cotabato against Pasay at 6 p.m. and Quezon City against Pampanga at 8 p.m.
